Control Room

Control Room is the browser-friendly live settings page at /console when webpage access is enabled on the current license. The same surface still exists as a desktop page inside Virtual.ink, so web access rules do not remove it from the main operator workstation.

Changes are loaded from the Virtual.ink server and saved back automatically, so Control Room behaves like a live editor rather than a submit form.

Access Policy

This policy applies to the web page, not the desktop page inside Virtual.ink.

Tier Current web access
Starter Web page unavailable
Basic Available on this computer only through localhost
Pro / Pulse Available on the local network

What Control Room Covers

Use Control Room when you want to adjust:

  • capture format
  • action timing
  • symmetry and motion
  • look and separation settings

Available Sections

Section Purpose
Settings FPS, resolution, and a reset-all action for console-managed values
Actions Duration, countdown, cross-fade, reset-before, and paint-on-record
Transform Symmetry, folds, tiling, and related geometry controls
Motion Painting mode, decay or stroke timing, and canvas animation
Look Hue shift, color ramp, pixelate, vignette, invert, and related post effects
Separation Light separation, softness, detail recovery, ambient preserve, and cleanup

Settings and Actions are always present. Transform, Motion, Look, and Separation are available on Starter and above.

When Separation is active, the background Scene adjustments appear at the bottom of the Separation column instead of as a standalone tab.

How It Differs From Remote Control

  • Remote Control is the touch-first action surface for Record, Paint, Reset, Snapshot, Hide UI, and Fullscreen.
  • Control Room is the denser tuning surface for live settings and visual parameters.
  • Remote Control triggers actions. Control Room edits the values behind those actions.

How It Differs From Live Setup And Effects

Control Room is not a full clone of the desktop operator UI.

It does not provide:

  • camera device selection
  • MJPG toggles
  • the native live canvas
  • the desktop debug overlay
  • every desktop-only effect surface

Use Live Setup for input-device configuration and capture layout. Use Effects for the full desktop effects sidebar.

In the current build, desktop-only surfaces such as the Presets manager, Drift, Shine, and Watermark still live outside Control Room. Scene adjustments exist here only as the background controls nested under Separation.

Save And License Behavior

Control Room reads status and license information from the app server and can show notices when saving is restricted.

Action duration is still enforced by tier:

  • Starter up to 8 seconds
  • Basic up to 30 seconds
  • Pro and Pulse can use manual mode and longer timed values

Changes save automatically after a short debounce. If a save fails, Control Room reloads the current server state so the page does not drift away from the app.

Reset Behavior

The Settings section includes a reset-all action for console-managed settings.

That reset keeps the currently selected camera slots and reapplies the console defaults within the current tier's allowed resolution range.

Each effect section also exposes its own reset action, so you can clear one area without affecting the rest of the page.

These resets affect live values. They do not reset Quick Nav, dashboard presets, or global app defaults.

When To Use Control Room

Control Room is a good fit when you need:

  • a browser-based operator station with more detail than Remote Control
  • quick tuning from a second laptop or tablet
  • live look adjustments without standing at the main computer
